Holy Trinity
ActiveWebster, Monroe County
Holy Trinity Church was established in 1861 to serve the Catholic community in Webster, a town northeast of Rochester along the shore of Lake Ontario. The parish was founded during the Civil War era, when Webster was still a rural farming community with a small but devoted Catholic population.
Father P.C. McGrath provided early leadership during his eight-year pastorate from 1869 to 1877, helping establish the parish on solid footing. The current church building was constructed in 1901 on Ridge Road, the historic thoroughfare that connected Rochester's eastern suburbs. The church's location along this main route made it accessible to Catholics throughout the Webster area.
Father George M. Kalb served as pastor for over two decades, guiding the parish through the Great Depression and World War II before retiring in 1961. Father William H. Hart continued this tradition of long service, leading Holy Trinity for 23 years from 1969 to 1992 as Webster transformed from a small town into a thriving suburb.
Today, Holy Trinity remains an active parish serving the Webster community, one of the few churches in the Diocese of Rochester that operates as an independent parish rather than part of a cluster. The parish continues to serve the Catholic faithful along the Ridge Road corridor more than 160 years after its founding.
