Nichols, Tioga County

Fr. William J. O'Brien, pastor of St. Patrick's church in Owego, founded a Catholic chapel in the village of Nichols in June 1960. The chapel served approximately 150 local Catholics, many of whom worked at the nearby IBM facility in Binghamton. A former D. L. & W. Railroad station was rented for worship. Beginning in 1967, the community shared a local Methodist church for Sunday Masses. The Nichols chapel closed in 1977/8.

Methodist Church site

After 1967, the Nichols chapel moved from the railroad station site and began to offer Masses at the Methodist church.
