Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Rochester was established in 1843, making it one of the oldest parishes in the city. Father Francis H. Sinclair served for 45 years from 1862 to 1907, and Father J. Emil Gefell served for 43 years from 1907 to 1950—a combined 88 years of pastoral continuity. The Congregation of the Sacred Hearts served the parish from 1967 to 1996. The current church building was constructed in 1912. The parish closed on October 1, 2006.
