St. Anthony

St. Anthony Church in Groton was established as a mission in 1873 and became a parish on August 1, 1875. The future Bishop Thomas F. Hickey briefly served here in 1894-1895. Father William E. Hayes served for 21 years from 1940 to 1961, and Father Joseph M. McNamara served for 20 years from 1961 to 1981. The present church building was dedicated on October 25, 1975. Today, St. Anthony is part of the All Saints/Holy Cross/St. Anthony cluster.
