St. Casimir

St. Casimir Church in Elmira was established in 1890 to serve the Polish Catholic community, named for the patron saint of Poland. The church building was constructed in 1912. Father Ladislaus J. Szezepanski served for 37 years from 1933 until his retirement in 1970—one of the longest pastorates in the diocese. Father Henry T. Adamski continued to serve the Polish community for 17 years from 1970 to 1987. Today, St. Casimir is part of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
