St. Catherine of Siena Church in Ithaca was established in 1960 to serve the growing Catholic community near Cornell University. Monsignor Donald M. Cleary served as the founding pastor for 9 years until his death in 1969. Father Ronald E. Gaesser served for 16 years from 1987 until his retirement in 2003. The church building was constructed in 1961. St. Catherine remains an independent parish.
