St. Dominic Church in Shortsville was established as a mission in 1883 and achieved full parish status in 1922. The church building was dedicated on September 16, 1900. Father Felix J. O'Hanlon served for 27 years from 1895 until his death in 1922.

Father John E. Napier served for 31 years from 1927 until his retirement in 1958—one of the longest pastorates in the diocese. Father John F. Woloch served for 15 years from 1961 until his death in 1976. Father William J. Cosgrove served for 17 years from 1983 to 2000. Today, St. Dominic is part of St. Peter Parish.
