St. Gabriel Church in Hammondsport was established in 1848 to serve the Catholic community in the scenic Finger Lakes wine country. The church building was constructed in December 1909. Sister Anne M. McGill, SSJ, served as administrator for 12 years from 1994 to 2006, and Deacon David LaFortune served as administrator for 10 years from 2009 to 2019. Today, St. Gabriel is part of St. John Vianney Parish.
