St. George on the Lake Church in the Summerville section of Irondequoit was established in 1907. The church building was dedicated on June 16, 1907. For its first 15 years, the parish was administered by priests from St. Bernard Seminary. Father John F. Muckle served as the first resident pastor for 32 years from 1922 to 1954. The parish closed in 1958, and the church building was demolished in 1967.
