St. James Church in Waverly was established as a mission in 1853 and became a parish in 1881. Father Thomas H. Watts served for 12 years from 1989 until his retirement in 2001. The church building was dedicated on November 23, 1913. Today, St. James is part of Blessed Trinity Parish.
