Port Byron, Cayuga County

St. John Church in Port Byron was established as a mission in 1858 and became a parish in 1865. The parish was served by priests from St. Joseph in Weedsport before receiving its first resident pastor. Father John A. Guy served for 30 years from 1937 to 1967, and Father William B. Leone served for 12 years from 1990 to 2002. The parish closed on July 1, 2020.
