St. John the Evangelist Church in Clyde was established as a mission in 1851 and became a parish in 1859. The church building was constructed in 1869. Father John J. Gleeson served for 32 years from 1886 to 1918, and Monsignor Joseph V. Curtin served for 28 years from 1929 to 1957. Today, St. John is part of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
