St. Joseph Church in Rush was established as a mission in 1864 and became a parish in 1968. The church building was dedicated on July 17, 1881. The parish has been notable for its lay and religious sister leadership: Sister Alice Cooney, SSJ, served as administrator for 12 years from 1995 to 2007, and Barbara Swiecki served as administrator from 2010 until her death in 2018. Today, St. Joseph is part of St. Marianne Cope Parish.
