St. Louis Church in Pittsford traces its origins to 1870, when it was established as a mission of Assumption Parish in Fairport. Father Patrick C. McGrath and Father John L. Codyre served the small Catholic community in Pittsford Village for over four decades, traveling to offer Mass while the congregation grew slowly in this predominantly Protestant village.

The mission achieved full parish status in February 1911, and Monsignor Louis W. Edelman was appointed as the first resident pastor. Monsignor Edelman would serve an extraordinary 42 years, guiding St. Louis from its early days as a small village parish through the Great Depression and World War II. Under his leadership, the Catholic presence in Pittsford became firmly established.

Father John A. Reddington continued this tradition of long service with a 30-year pastorate from 1953 to 1983. The present church building was constructed and dedicated on May 21, 1958, as Pittsford began its transformation from a quiet village to a prosperous Rochester suburb.

Today, St. Louis continues as an active independent parish on Pittsford's historic Main Street. The parish serves a growing Catholic community in one of the region's most desirable suburbs, building on over 150 years of Catholic presence in the village.
