Horseheads, Chemung County

St. Mary Church in Horseheads was established as a mission in 1865 and became a parish in 1879. Father Francis J. Reilly served for 29 years from 1936 until his death in 1965, and Father Bartholomew J. O'Brien served for 19 years from 1965 to 1984. The present church building was dedicated on November 10, 1979. St. Mary remains an independent parish serving the Horseheads community.
