St. Mary of the Assumption in Scottsville was established as a mission in 1841 and became a parish in 1848. The church building was constructed in May 1855. Father Patrick McArdle served for 31 years from 1910 to 1941, and Father Edward Hartman served for 32 years from 1941 until his retirement in 1973. Today, St. Mary is part of the St. Martin de Porres parish.
