St. Patrick Church in Aurora was established in 1841, making it one of the oldest parishes in Cayuga County. Located on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake, the parish served Irish Catholic settlers in this Finger Lakes village. The present church building was dedicated on August 11, 1874.

Father Thomas Hendrick, who later became Bishop of Cebu in the Philippines, served as pastor from 1877 to 1891. Monsignor John S. Hayes led the parish for 12 years from 1972 to 1984. Today, St. Patrick is part of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community cluster.
