St. Patrick

St. Patrick Church in Moravia was established in the 1870s to serve the Catholic community in this Cayuga County village. Priests from Auburn ministered to the area from 1852 until Father Archangelo Pagannini became the first resident pastor around 1878. The present church building was constructed in 1888.
Father Thomas F. Hickey, who later became Bishop of Rochester, served briefly in 1894-1895. Father William J. O'Brien led the parish for 12 years from 1956 to 1968. Father Robert J. Downs served for 12 years from 1985 to 1997. Today, St. Patrick is part of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community cluster.
