St. Patrick Church in Owego is one of the oldest Catholic parishes in the Southern Tier, tracing its origins to 1842 when it was served as a mission from Binghamton. Father John Sheridan became the first resident pastor in 1844, establishing the parish during an era when Irish Catholic immigrants were settling along the Susquehanna River valley.

The present church building, a handsome structure on Main Street, was dedicated on December 7, 1890. The church's prominent downtown location reflects the central role Catholics played in this historic Tioga County village.

Father Michael L. Hynes provided stability during a 21-year pastorate from 1932 to 1953, guiding the parish through the Great Depression and World War II. In the 1970s, the parish experimented with a co-pastorate model, with Father Thomas H. Watts and Albert Cason serving together.

Father William Moorby provided long service from 1997 to 2014, first as administrator and then as pastor. Today, St. Patrick is clustered with Blessed Trinity Parish, continuing to serve Catholics in Owego and the surrounding Tioga County area. The parish carries forward nearly 180 years of Catholic presence in this historic Southern Tier community.
