Van Etten, Chemung County

St. Pius X Church in Van Etten was founded in 1953. The first Mass in the new church building was celebrated on December 24, 1965. The Capuchin Franciscan Fathers of St. Fidelis Friary served the parish from 1954 to 1971. Father Thomas H. Watts served for 14 years from 1987 until his retirement in 2001. The parish has since closed.
