St. Rose of Lima

St. Rose of Lima Church in Sodus Point began as a mission in 1876, serving vacationers and year-round residents in this lakeside community on the shore of Lake Ontario. The original building, known as Lummis Hall, was rededicated as St. Rose of Lima on August 9, 1908.
For its first 46 years, the mission was served by pastors from Lyons. Father Ralph J. Meyer served for 11 years from 1942 to 1953. Father John F. Cavanaugh served for 16 years from 1968 to 1984. Father Symon Peter Ntaiyia served the longest tenure, from 2006 until the parish closed on November 20, 2020.
