St. Simon
DemolishedSpringwater, Livingston County
In 1881, St. Simon was founded to minister to Catholic farmers living on the western hill outside Springwater village. Fr. Simon Fitzsimon, pastor of the former St. Patrick's in Dansville at the time, oversaw construction of a small church beside the railroad tracks. The church was placed under St. Michael in Livonia as a mission in 1894, then transferred to St. Joseph in Wayland in 1898. St. Simon closed and was sold in 1905. The building served as grain storage for some years before its eventual demolition.
