St. William
ClosedCameron Mills, Steuben County
Fr. Donohue of nearby St. Catherine of Siena parish in Addison established St. William. Beginning in spring 1885, Fr. Donohue celebrated Mass in a local schoolhouse. Land was transferred to Bishop Ryan of the Diocese of Buffalo in January 1886 for constructing a church to serve Cameron Mills residents. Construction proceeded rapidly, with the church opening for Mass approximately a month later on February 18th. The church remained in use until 1903, when it was sold for $200.
